US News & World Report Best Law Firm AwardWashington D.C. –November 15, 2011U.S. News and World Report and Best Lawyers have released the 2011-12 Best Law Firms rankings, marking  the second year to publish this highly-anticipated annual analysis. Janet, Jenner & Suggs (JJS) has been named again to Best Law Firms, which is a high-ranking, special distinction that signals a unique combination of excellence and breadth of expertise.  The firm achieved Tier 1 ratings in both Baltimore, MD and Columbia, SC as follows:

The first-tier rankings were featured in the November 15 print issue of U.S.News & World Report Money. Along with being named Best Law Firm, JJS attorneys Howard Janet, Ken SuggsRobert Jenner, and Dov Aphel have been named Best Lawyers for the past six years.  In addition,  Janet was named 2012 Lawyer of the Year-Baltimore Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiffs and Suggs was named 2012 Lawyer of the Year-Columbia, SC Product Liability Litigation-Plaintiffs.

These rankings, which are presented in tiers, showcase 9,633 different law firms ranked nationally in one or more of 75 major legal practice areas and in metropolitan or state rankings in one or more of 119 major legal practice areas. Full data for the law firms that received rankings is available online, from the largest firms in the country to hundreds of one-person and two-person law firms, providing a comprehensive view of the U.S. legal profession that is unprecedented both in the range of firms represented and in the range of qualitative and quantitative data used to develop the rankings. Achieving a high ranking is a special distinction that signals a unique combination of excellence and breadth of expertise.

These reputational survey responses were combined with more than 3.1 million evaluations of individual lawyers in these firms in the most recent Best Lawyers survey of leading lawyers.  Hard numbers were also used to develop the practice area rankings—data about numbers of lawyers and their previous experience, numbers of clients within different billing ranges, numbers of transactions and litigation matters at different dollar levels; pro-bono commitment, diversity, and other objective data.
