Eight JJ&S Attorneys Tapped for Elite “40 under 40” National Law Group

Eight attorneys with Janet, Jenner & Suggs, LLC, have been recognized among the nation’s top lawyers under age 40 by the National Trial Lawyers. Attorneys Leah Barron, Justin Browne, Seth Cardeli, Kimberly Dougherty, Brink Hinson, Brian Ketterer, Jessica Meeder and Jason Penn have been invited to join NTL’s “Top 40 Under 40” professional organization, which represents outstanding young lawyers in a state or region.

“We’re proud of all these lawyers for their superior achievements and the leadership they have already brought to the profession,” said Howard Janet, managing partner.

Membership in Top 40 Under 40 is by invitation only and is extended exclusively to those trial lawyers practicing civil plaintiff and/or criminal defense law. Selection is based on qualifications, trial results, leadership, peer nominations and third-party research.

Leah Barron, who works in the firm’s Baltimore office, focuses her practice on environmental and toxic tort litigation.

Justin Browne, also in the firm’s Baltimore office, litigates mass torts, class actions and personal injury cases. He has served as a leader in national pain pump and Granuflo litigations, and was designated a Rising Star by Maryland Super Lawyers®.

Seth Cardeli, Baltimore office, focuses his practice on representing victims of medical negligence, including children injured during labor and delivery.

Kim Dougherty, who manages the firm’s Boston Office, focuses her practice on pharmaceutical and medical device mass torts. She holds leadership positions in multidistrict litigations involving defective transvaginal mesh and contaminated steroid injections. She is president elect of the Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association, serves on the executive board for the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and chairs its Women’s Caucus, and is on the Board of Governor for the American Association for Justice. She also has been named among Top Women of Law for 2013 by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly®, and a New England Rising Star by Super Lawyers®.

Brink Hinson, South Carolina office, focuses his practice on commercial litigation and catastrophic personal injury cases.

Brian Ketterer, Baltimore office, a partner in the firm, focuses his practice on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. He serves as co-chair of the science and expert committee for the GranuFlo litigation and is also spearheading efforts to recruit and develop liability and regulatory experts for these cases. He also is involved in similar efforts for both the Lipitor and Pradaxa cases currently being litigated.

Jessica Meeder, Baltimore office, focuses her practice on complex litigation, including toxic tort class actions and multi district litigation, and has also managed and litigated large volumes of unconsolidated mass tort cases.

Jason Penn, Baltimore office, litigates major medical cases. He also has served as a Maryland delegate to American Association for Justice.
